Two eights for 2008 : In 2006, I made two short lists on the first day of the year. Some might have called them resolutions, intentions, aspirations or longings; I called them hopes. Two years later, I’m still working on some of the same things, and have a couple more hopes to add to each list. I have high hopes for 2008.

On dirty people & a whole new year : I’m not sure if this cold that has leveled me is karmic payback for being witness to the book burning or if it’s just the side-effects of a weakened immune system caused by being a shut in.

Thank You, Holidailies! : I made it! I only missed one day of posting for Holidailies 2007! A big thank you to Chip and Jette for hosting Holidailies and to all the visitors who have dropped by during this project. Goodness knows it's not easy to think of things to write about every day.

Just to Say ... : Maybe [starting a diet by going on a cruise] is not the way anyone would advise one to start losing weight, but it worked for me.

All Was Quiet on New Year's Eve : The Space Needle fireworks seemed a little short-lived. They sputtered and stopped, sputtered briefly and again halted. I found a video of the final fireworks show. Friends, I laughed myself silly. It's the funniest fireworks show I've ever, ever seen. I feel for the poor folks in charge of the show, who must have been freaking out...

Forward Motion : The first time I wore . . . I began, and then I was writing about nylons and being forced to wear them for my Confirmation, alien items held up with garters that pinched my thighs or a garter belt that was anything but a fashionable item from the turn-him-on collection at Victoria’s Secret

New Year's Day : Today was not atypical from almost everyday since I've started my Christmas break. I get up around 8:00. I walk the dogs. Some days I feed them and most times Ann feeds them. I'll get on the computer while enjoying my morning Coke and a breakfast bar.

Enjoying a Pier Plunge : Can you imagine a better way to celebrate the New Year than by jumping into the Atlantic Ocean at noon on a cold and rainy and windy New England day? Well, I did it anyway... So did lots of other people... (Not only that, but we each paid twenty bucks in order to do it...

Letting go : I loved watching Dick Clark on TV as a kid. I guess seeing him like this, is yet another reminder that I am getting older and the things I loved as a child will soon be gone forever.

As you slowly go away from me, this is only another test : I should have known that the forum would be a bad place, but I thought there might be some information about what to do when you're ready to go off a diet. I refuse to believe that you should just start eating an extra 500 calories per day.

The Sally Edwards of Holidailies : This year, I was really thinking about Holidailies overall as something people try, rather than something people feel mandated to do.

The Beginning : Rather than ponder what resolutions to make, I went out and shoveled the fresh snow off the sidewalks and driveway and enjoyed the fresh air (until my neighbor fired up his snowblower, at which point the fresh went out of the air).
